Mediacorp adult animation series Zombie Safari has been selected to compete in the TV Films category at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2025 in France.
Produced by local animation studio Finding Pictures and content creators Ministry of Funny, Zombie Safari is among the 30 titles worldwide selected to compete at the festival. Only four are from Asia.
Set in a world where a zombie virus breaks out, Zombie Safari follows a ragtag group of zoo animals who must put aside their differences and instincts to survive the undead horde– and one another.
Another animated film from Singapore, Neh Neh Pok, was also selected under the Graduation Films category.
Directed by Jaime Ng and produced by Winona Mazo, both alumni of the Nanyang Technological University – School of Art, Design and Media, the film is about a young girl entering adulthood and explores the themes of body image and self-acceptance. It has been screened at various international festivals.
The festival is an annual competition of animated films across different categories, such as Young Audience Films and Commissioned Films.
Sponsored by the International Animated Film Association, the festival will take place from Jun 8 to 14 in the town of Annecy, France.
Throughout the festival, competing films will be screened at cinemas across the city, while a special open-air night screening in the heart of the town will showcase classic or recent films according to that year’s festival theme. All award winners will be announced on the last day of the festival.
Previous winners in the festival's TV Films category include Peppa Pig (2005), Shaun The Sheep (2007), The Amazing World Of Gumball (2011) and Stick Man (2016).
Zombie Safari is currently available on mewatch and Mediacorp Drama on YouTube.
